The devil was appearing to Brother Ruffino, but disguised himself to look like Jesus, and told him that he was predestined to go to Hell…
St Francis’ advice: ‘When the devil tells you you are damned, you should confidently reply “Apri la bocca et mote cecato” that is, open your mouth and I shall excrete in it’. 
Hahahaa! I read this and properly laughed out loud on the train!!
